HOMEOPATHY
What is Homeopathy and how does it work?
Homeopathy, is the longest-established CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) to have originated in Germany, spread in Europe, and flourished in India. It is a holistic system of medicine founded by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, that aims to stimulate the body's inner healing capacity.
It works on the fundamental laws and principles derived from nature and aims to bring about healing at the level of mind, body, and soul. Homeopathy is an energy medicine that aims to boost the immune system and heal from the root cause.
Is Homeopathy safe for everyone, including pregnant women and children?
Yes, Homeopathy is safe for everyone when prescribed by a qualified homeopath based on thorough case-taking and analysis. It is 100% natural, non-toxic, gentle, and free from side effects.
Can I take Homeopathy with my Allopathy medicine?
Yes, you can continue to take your existing allopathy medicines while starting the Homeopathy treatment. As treatment progresses, your homeopath will guide you in terms of adjustment and tapering of doses eventually, if needed.
Is homeopathic treatment slow?
Time taken for recovery through Homeopathy depends on factors such as the patient’s current health status, the nature and duration of the illness, and treatment adherence. While some may experience rapid improvement, others may require longer-term care for chronic conditions.
Continuous homeopathy treatment helps uncover every layer formed by an individual’s thought processes, habits, and disease conditions at a pace decided by the factors listed above.
Can homeopathic remedies cause any side effects?
No. The active principles of homeopathic medicines are present in nano-doses. This eliminates the possibility of any side effects or adverse reactions. However, it must be noted that self-medication can be harmful and medicines should be prescribed only by a qualified homeopath.
Is it true that Homeopathy works only for chronic conditions and not acute diseases?
Homeopathy is effective for both, chronic and acute conditions. While it's often associated with chronic diseases, it also provides relief for acute ailments like colds, fevers, digestive upset and headaches. The effect of Homeopathy in acute diseases is often understated, nevertheless, the science applied is the same, with results being seen even within a few minutes or hours.
What conditions can Homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy can practically cover most of the systems, including mental health issues. It treats a wide range of conditions, including allergies, respiratory conditions, skin disorders, digestive issues, musculoskeletal disorders, genito-urinary disorders, etc. Homeopathy also treats hormonal imbalances, autoimmune conditions such as Psoriasis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Lichen Planus, and mental health concerns like Anxiety, Depression, OCD to name a few.
Since it is always the root cause we focus on, Homeopathy can potentially treat most conditions that have a psychosomatic origin.
Are homeopathy medicines harmful for diabetic patients?
Homeopathic medicines are safe for diabetic patients when prescribed by a qualified practitioner. They do not interfere with blood sugar levels. Homeopathy medicines can be dispensed not only through pills but also through dilutions and water when needed.
Are any dietary restrictions recommended with homeopathic treatment?
Homeopathic treatment generally does not require specific dietary restrictions, unless it is disease-specific where one may have to follow certain dietary guidelines. Your doctor may, however, tell you to stay away temporarily from substances of strong essence such as camphor, eucalyptus, black coffee, and raw garlic & onion.
Is Homeopathy scientific?
Homeopathy is rooted in proven scientific principles and has a growing body of research supporting its efficacy. Each remedy methodically undergoes rigorous proving and preparation. Clinical trials and observational studies consistently demonstrate positive outcomes for various health conditions.
Recent emphasis on nanotechnology provides an opportunity to further understand and prove the effects of sub-molecular doses of medicine.
DIET & NUTRITION
How can I create a balanced diet that meets my nutritional needs?
To create a balanced diet, include a variety of foods from all food groups like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Focus on portion control and moderation, and aim for colourful meals to ensure you're getting a range of nutrients. Consult a nutritionist for personalized guidance tailored to your specific nutritional needs and health goals.
What are macronutrients and micronutrients, and why are they important?
Macronutrients are essential nutrients required in large amounts by the body for energy production, growth, and overall functioning. They include carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Carbohydrates are the primary source of energy, while proteins are essential for building and repairing tissues, and fats play a crucial role in cell structure and hormone production.
Micronutrients are required by the body in smaller amounts for important functions, including metabolism, immune function, and overall health maintenance. They play a crucial role in supporting enzyme activity, hormone regulation, and cellular function. Examples of micronutrients include vitamins (such as Vitamins A, B Complex, C, D, E, K) and minerals (such as calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc).
How can I determine the appropriate portion sizes for different food groups?
To determine portion sizes, you can use visual cues like your hand or everyday objects. For example, a serving of protein (like chicken or fish) should be about the size of your palm, a serving of carbohydrates (like rice or pasta) should be about the size of your fist, and a serving of vegetables should fill half a standard-sized plate.
Measuring tools can be used to ensure accuracy. Pay attention to hunger and fullness cues to avoid overeating. Portion sizes vary based on individual factors such as age, gender, activity level, and health status, so it's essential to adjust accordingly to meet your nutritional needs.
How can I manage food allergies or intolerances while maintaining a balanced diet?
Start by identifying and avoiding trigger foods. Look for suitable alternatives that are nutrient-rich and provide essential vitamins and minerals. Read food labels carefully to check for allergens or intolerant ingredients. Consult with a dietitian to create a safe and balanced meal plan customized to your specific dietary needs and preferences.
Should I consume dietary supplements that can help fill nutritional gaps in my diet?
This depends on your current health status as regards nutritional needs. If you are majorly deficient, you may want some help with supplements. However, while they can fill nutritional gaps, prioritize whole foods whenever possible to meet your nutrient needs.
Dietary supplements should not replace a balanced diet but may be recommended in specific cases of nutrient deficiency. Always seek a consultation to know if you really need them.
